Fitness Tips: My Top 30 Favorite Workout Jams, and How To Create Your Own Fitness Playlist!

If you're anything like me, you've probably got an iPhone song list full of depressing, indie rock and heartbreak ballads. These tunes meant - and still mean - something huge to me deep down, but when I'm ready to amp it up on the weights or get started on a jog, these slow, sad songs just aren't doing it for me. I need something to pump me up and get me moving!

Although shower ballads and amp it up jams are both necessary on your song list, they usually belong on different playlists. If you ask me, I've got a hella good taste in music, but I've also got times where I need to forget about the sad truth and get myself bouncing off the walls during a workout. This energy-release really helps me sleep at night, and most people need a little exercise in their lives to relax at the end of the day.

Without further adieu, these are a few of my most-played workout songs. Get ready to rumba or twerk or whatever.

  1. Feelin' Myself - Nicki Minaj feat. Beyonce

Pumped up yet?

Now, create your own workout playlist. Make sure to choose songs with motivational lyrics, amp-it-up beats, or even both! I recommend something a little faster and a lot more fun! Have fun with it, you're going to love the outcome when you're hitting the elliptical next time, or even when you're in hip hop cardio class!

My #1 Tip for creating your own workout playlist:
  • Skip the slow, sad, and/or depressing and swap in the fun and upbeat! You can still get motivational/inspirational lyrics with amp-it-up songs! My favorite motivation songs from this particular list are Fire, Open Letter, and Radioactive. All with great beats and still they get the lyrical wonders on point to make me really, really want to reach my goals even more than before!
